“If you think dogs can’t count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them.”
Dog Treats! Dog Treats are what brings us here together today. Wait! What? Think you took a wrong turn somewhere?
But Meg, I don’t even have a dog, why should I care about great deals on dog “cookies”?
I’m showing you a recent awesome deal I couponed for at Target, just so happens that I have a rather portly doggy that expects a “cookie” after each meal BUT this simple transaction will show you how to apply 1 manufacturer coupon and 1 store coupon on one item to nab yourself some cheap or free products! Replace the words “Dog Treats” for something else that makes you happy if you need better motivation. Either way you’ll learn how to work a wicked deal!
When there is a Free or super cheap deal on animal foods or treats, I try to take advantage of it even if our personal pets don’t use that product. Why? Family pets have been effected by the economy and housing crisis too. Shelters, rescue groups and food banks DESPERATLY NEED DONATIONS to continue to support these wonderful creatures, that deserve a chance to have a forever home.
Molly LOVES her “cookies”. She’s not too picky… just needs to be crunchy and in her mouth as often as she can guilt a kid or be so cute that my Handsome Prince can’t help it… she’s had everyone’s number for a long time.
I went to Target this week to coupon another deal for .99 cent Beneful Dog food.
For each of the 4 bags I purchased, I received a catalina (a catalina, cat, or cats are those coupons that your handed at checkout that are generated by that little machine by the register and print automatically based off of what you’ve purchased) for $1.50 off 1 box of Beneful Baked Dog Treats. I got 4 of those catalinas much to my surprise and joy.
Always read the WHOLE coupon for product size, quantity restrictions as well as for expiration dates. Never try to pass a coupon by a checker that you know isn’t good or doesn’t apply to your item, it’s not right and gives honest couponers the stink eye because of a few bad nuts. Don’t be a bad nut! Mistakes happen and don’t beat yourself up, learn from it and before long you’ll be a confident savvy shopper.
I remembered seeing a Beneful coupon on the Target website http://www.target.com/. I went to the bottom of the page and clicked on coupons and it takes you to their printable coupons! You usually may print 2 of each coupon per computer you have access to. If you have many personalities in your home, your probably like us and have several computers to print from. When you find a great deal for you, use a few computers or ask friends to acquire the coupons you wish for, to create those deals you need.
The 9 oz. boxes of Beneful Baked Dog Treats at my local Target was $2.74
Used the $1.50 off 1 Manufacturer Cat Coupon
Used the .75 cents off 1 Target Printable Coupon
.49 cent Box of Beneful Baked Dog Treats!!!
I received 4 of the cat coupons from my previous purchase and used 2 computers to print my 4 Target Store Coupons. Using one manufacture and one store coupon, that’s 8 total coupons used, I was able to purchase 4 boxes for only $1.96 before tax for all of them!
That’s 4, for LESS than the retail price of 1!!!
Molly seems very pleased with her new snacks. I like them because they are bite size. My tubby girl doesn’t need huge snacks and it’s nice to have a treat in the house that we were able to share with a smaller dog friend that came by for a visit. He gave them many tail wags of approval too. I was able to get all of the flavors I saw, for her to try but this sweet deal will last her quite some time. She’s a very happy girl and I don’t have to buy snacks for months! All for less than $2!
This is when I love couponing!
Even if you don’t have a dog, but are making a trip by Target, why not coupon a screaming deal like this. I can’t tell you the opportunities I’ve had to lighten a friend’s load or make a donation of goods to a shelter because I picked up an extra with them in mind. When you can see the deal, have a talent for it and enjoy doing it, share of your time, talents and products with others so they can do the same if they wish. Karma is a great big hoola hoop, you can bet it’s coming right back around!
See, using coupons isn’t so scary and when you break it down, it’s not very hard at all!
I find math very intimidating. I truly have an intense dislike for mathematics and secretly wish I had a better understanding of it’s concepts. Alas, I have long since embraced the fact that I will always be more creative than analytical.
If I can coupon, you can coupon!
I believe in you. Do you believe in you? You know you need to save some cash but are nervous to take the leap. Every great story has to have a beginning! Where does yours begin?
Be not afraid to learn as you go! We all walk before we run. We have to make mistakes so our triumphs are that much sweeter! Not always will you find, free or great deals for you each week. Some just arn’t going to be what you want or need. Don’t be disillusioned, bit by bit your savings will add up and your stockpile will grow.
