“To send a letter is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart. ”
~Phyllis Theroux
A few weeks ago I told you about how I often get FREE samples or full sized products sent to my mail box in my article The Best Things In Life Are FREE.
#1 question I am asked the most…
Where do you get your coupons?
I talk about a few ways in Extreme Couponing and again in Can You Find The Free Coupons.
The reason why we’re here to today is yet another way to receive high value and/or free coupons for products delivered into your mailbox too… Contact For Coupons.
Contact For Coupons is exactly it’s name, we’re contacting companies, paying them a compliment or offering a suggestion or maybe a complaint or even just straight up asking nicely for coupons.
Don’t roll your eyes, it really does pay off and it really does not take much time at all. At night when we flick on the TV, I try to fire off a hand full of emails. Takes 15 minutes or less and before I know I I will be pleasantly surprised at what arrives in my mail box.
My rule of thumb is to be honest, keep it relevant to the product or company and when possible, offer a suggestion. As small business owners we know exactly how important it is to have customer feedback. It’s a win win situation! We get great coupons and they get an honest opinion about their products from the most important people, The Consumers. I wrote to Jiff and thanked them. A few weeks later I received a whole gift box FULL of mixes and them a few days late received 2 new cook books from them! WOW! THANKS! Sometimes you get wonderful things besides coupons too.
The other day I saw an AMAZING post by Living Rich With Coupons.
She posted her MASTER COMPANY CONTACT LIST!
WOW!! It’s beautiful, long and everything I’ve been trying to do but s-l-o-w-l-y because I didn’t have her COOL MASTER LIST to work from. She knocked this one right outta the park! Thank you Cindy for sharing, inspiring us and running such an incredible site!
You MUST check out Living Rich With Coupons, she even has ideas on how to write to companies for products and coupons! She also is a wealth of knowledge about money saving and couponing!
REMEMBER: Contacting companies does NOT guarantee that you will receive anything. However, it is my experience that most often than not I am VERY pleasantly surprised when I visit my mail box.
These companies will contact you at least once by email, if not more. I set up a second email account for all things couponing, giveaway and freebie so that my main email wouldn’t be going NUTS all day long. I would suggest that you do the same if you are a frequent couponer.
Inspired by her post, I finished making a list of the companies I had a favorable response with coupons and/or free products in the past year. I was careful NOT to repeat any from Living Rich’s List.

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter
Mrs. Smith’s Pies and Desserts
Just another way to help to reduce the cost of your groceries.
Every little bit counts and overall you will be pleased with the outcome of your letter writing skills.
WARNING: Doing this will actually make you excited to get your mail again! You never know what wonderful things will be waiting for you!
Best of luck to you in your coupon endeavors!
Do you have companies I should add to my Contact For Coupons List?
Don’t hesitate to share! Those who care share!
Waiting On The Mail,
Meg XOXO
