“Donuts. Is there anything they can’t do?”
– Homer Simpson
As I kissed Luc good night, his last words to me were, “I Love you too. Don’t forget donuts please, please, plllllleeeeeeease?!” I feel so used for my donut fetching skills, however I’ll take loves, thanks! Not my fault that within the first month that I moved here, I had already got to the bottom of which donut shop on our side of town is the best… OK, maybe my fault but the heavenly donut holes that I found there are so worth the razzing I got.
Everyone knows that you need a handful of go to favorite places in your community before you feel settled. I dislike breakfast foods for the most part. I’d choose leftover Chinese Food or Brisket over a 5 star breakfast. Sorry. I can get behind a good bagel & lox, the occasional bite of an omelette and some pastries but I’m just not a happy breakfast gal. Pass the coffee, tea or fruit, please.
I can ALWAYS get excited about some Eastside donut holes, fruit croissants or many of their vast assortment of donut flavors. They do good work there and the place is usually a steady stream of customers leaving happy with their pink boxes in hand. They have quite a few tables for their customers to sit, chat or watch the news. On the weekends there are groups of people sitting together reading their papers, enjoying each others company and their breakfasts. As I stood in line, my mind started drifting and because it’s a Coupon Sunday, my thoughts landed on the coupons I saw sitting in the stack of newspapers that people toss in a pile to share with others. DING DING DING!
Look out! I’m thinking, rusty wheels are turning!
The owners are the nicest people you’ll ever meet and never fail to be wearing a huge smile on their faces, even in the pre dawn hours. After placing my order, I asked her what they do with the all newspapers and if she kept the coupons. They recycle all the newspapers at the end of the day and no one there keeps coupons but they would be happy to keep them for me.
Tempting… I already get my fair share of coupons so I passed on her generous offer.
I hope others will stumble upon their donut shops, coffee houses and places to go for Sunday breakfasts and find a little hidden treasure of coupons. If you saw a coupon you’d really like to get another of, you can purchase another paper OR you can take yourself for a .69 cent donut and maybe find the coupon your looking for. Awesome! Just don’t be greedy. Always try to control the urge to make off with the whole wad. Bad bad couponer. Take only what you need and leave some for others to be thrilled and grateful for too! Those who care, always share!
Remember… these FREE coupons work along the lines of the leave a penny, take a penny principal. What I mean is, don’t walk in snag your free coupons and walk out without asking permission and making, at least a small purchase. Give, take… works out great and your tummy is full of a yummy donut. Winning in my book! If you frequent an establishment, they may even hold extra coupons they find for you… never hurts to ask. Especially if you are a good paying customer, most of us would prefer to do something for someone when we feel appreciated or we get something out of it. Be honest, you know I’m right. 😉
Always on the look out for another way to make life a little easier, cheaper and full of donut holes.
There are too many opinions heard from around these parts. Everyone has a favorite donut and Mom is expected to remember everyone’s favorites of the day BUT we all agree on donut holes.
Thus why it is a near perfect food. Solve world peace? Easy. Donut holes for all! So, it only solved my breakfast crisis… hey, works for me! Baby steps…
I’ll do an extra sit up next week and run a few more miles in my mind to work it off.
With a mouthful of sugary joy and a keyboard full of sticky,
